Around 80% of Canadians who suffer a heart attack will experience it at home or at work. The current survival rate for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest is shockingly low, with 10% or less surviving — and nearly 50% of those who die from heart attacks in Canada are under the age of 65.
What if we could increase out-of-hospital survival rates from less than 10% to 50% within the next decade? Doesn’t saving 1 in 2 lives sound much better than just 1 in 10? It’s a bold goal, but it’s one we’re passionate about achieving.
The movement starts with our kids. By teaching children CPR and AED use, we equip them with the confidence to step up in emergencies — just like the youth who have saved lives in real situations.
At Life Start we’re kids at heart, injecting fun and engaging methods into our CPR and first aid training. Yes, even kids can use an AED effectively — they’re built so 6-year-olds can use them.
School application formThe research is clear: CPR and an AED used within 3 minutes of cardiac arrest can increase survival rates by up to 80%. Without immediate intervention, the chances of survival are dramatically reduced.
We franchised Life Start to spread our life-saving message more quickly. We actively encourage all our franchisees to give back to their local communities by offering free first aid training to schools — one of the most rewarding ways to make a difference.
We’re looking for motivated, community-driven people who share our vision to help us raise the standard of life-saving education for generations to come. It takes a village — and we need community involvement from coast to coast.
